Candriam is a pan-European asset management firm, founded in 1996 and headquartered in Luxembourg, with around È108 billion of assets under management as of June 2017. The company has been led by Naim Abou-Jaoude as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) since 2007. He has been at the company since its founding in 1996.
The company has investment management centres in Luxembourg, Brussels, Paris, and London, and has a commercial coverage in Europe, the United States, the Middle East and, through distribution affiliates, in Asia-Pacific.
They offer investment solutions in five asset classes: fixed income, equities, absolute performance strategies, sustainable investments and asset allocation.
The company was founded as Dexia Asset Management, a branch of Dexia S.A, in 1996. Following its acquisition by New York Life Investments in February 2014, the company changed name to Candriam, acronym of “Conviction and Responsibility in Asset Management”, which are the two core company values.
The company received the award of “European Asset Manager of the Year” for two years in a row in 2015 and 2016 and was listed among MacKay Williams’s top ranking for future leading names in asset management in 2016.
Candriam has investment management centres in Luxembourg, Brussels, Paris and London and has distribution offices in Dubai, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the USA. They cover the Asia-Pacific markets (Australia, Japan, South Korea) through distribution affiliates, part of the New York Life Investments group.
Candriam has been a pioneer in Social Responsible Investments (SRI) since 1996. The company states that investment opportunities and risks can’t be fully evaluated using traditional financial measures alone and that Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria should be taken into consideration. As of 2017 26% of Candriam’s total assets are managed taking into account SRI criteria.
